Ryan & Maria Reilly!
Here’s the winning haiku submitted by Ryan for his Maria.
we have faced it all
taking care of each other
seventeen years strong
Their story is heartbreaking and inspirational all in one. In 2008, Liam, their 6 year old son, was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain stem tumor. Last June he passed away after an awe-inspiring battle. Ryan and Maria shared the journey HERE with rawness and humility and joy. Liam’s life and fight has made me live and fight harder. It is impossible not to be changed by their experience.
I do not have enough exclamation points to tell you how excited we are to do this for them. Maria and I go way all the way back to 6th grade homeroom with Mrs. Brouillette. That was over two decades ago. Gulp.
Here’s what they have won:
- 1 hour photo session valued at 250 bucks
- Online gallery with 20 professionally edited images
- Your favorite image on a CD delivered to your doorstep
Thanks for all of your creative, heartfelt haikus. It was great fun to read them and we hope you give the next contest a whirl!
Tell us your love story to be entered to win a couples photo shoot in time for Valentine’s Day. But here’s the catch- you have to give it to us in a haiku.
Below Meredith & I will lead by example…and share our cheesy dating photos.
Met in Tokyo

Still smiling plus three

I knew him four months

Julia, a talented local thespian, needed headshots for her college interviews, auditions and the fame that will surely soon follow.

A week before this beauty became an adult officially, Meredith and I had the pleasure of taking her picture. We used natural light and tried shooting at different angles to capture her personality. Julia was totally at ease with the camera and had no problem with all of the attention and fussing which is clear to see in the resulting images. We gave whole experience two thumbs up and look forward to seeing her name in lights one day soon.
Break a leg, Julia!
Before Thanksgiving, we had the pleasure of meeting Heather of It’s Twinsanity and her big, beautiful, family. I have to say, I have never been so charmed and so impressed by a family in all my life. The six children were each intelligent, polite, unique and friendly…even in the nose-running, freezing cold.
As Heather effortlessly (and without yelling or threatening or running in the opposite direction) navigated her children through the streets of Warrenton, Virginia on our photo shoot, I seriously considered taking notes. It was obvious that before me stood a real, live, Super Mom. No joke.
Did I mention that the children were beautiful?
