Spring has definitely sprung here in Virginia and with it, the kick off of every child sport season known to man…or so it always seems. My girls are in softball and soccer which both play games on Saturdays which means you know where to find me until June. Last weekend, was opening day for softball and also my new 70-300mm lens.

Hey, the kids can’t have all the fun, right?

Julia, a talented local thespian, needed headshots for her college interviews, auditions and the fame that will surely soon follow.

A week before this beauty became an adult officially, Meredith and I had the pleasure of taking her picture. We used natural light and tried shooting at different angles to capture her personality. Julia was totally at ease with the camera and had no problem with all of the attention and fussing which is clear to see in the resulting images. We gave whole experience two thumbs up and look forward to seeing her name in lights one day soon.
Break a leg, Julia!
Before Thanksgiving, we had the pleasure of meeting Heather of It’s Twinsanity and her big, beautiful, family. I have to say, I have never been so charmed and so impressed by a family in all my life. The six children were each intelligent, polite, unique and friendly…even in the nose-running, freezing cold.
As Heather effortlessly (and without yelling or threatening or running in the opposite direction) navigated her children through the streets of Warrenton, Virginia on our photo shoot, I seriously considered taking notes. It was obvious that before me stood a real, live, Super Mom. No joke.
Did I mention that the children were beautiful?

They picked out and cut down their very own Christmas tree. We were lucky enough to go along for the ride.
In addition to getting my fix of driving in the snow, I came home wishing I had another girl so that I’d have sisters like these two darlings.

Last weekend, in our never ending search for new and spectacular outdoor photo shoot locations, we hauled our families out in to the nasty wet and discovered a colorful place to play with our cameras. We found that nothing makes you want to snuggle up and say cheese like a 45 degree rainy autumn day in Northern Virgina.

We don’t even look cold, do we?

*Special thanks to our wonderful husbands who not only keep us warm but support our dreams.*
