Two Sets of Twins Plus Two

Before Thanksgiving, we had the pleasure of meeting Heather of It’s Twinsanity and her big, beautiful, family. I have to say, I have never been so charmed and so impressed by a family in all my life. The six children were each intelligent, polite, unique and friendly…even in the nose-running, freezing cold.

As Heather effortlessly (and without yelling or threatening or running in the opposite direction) navigated her children through the streets of Warrenton, Virginia on our photo shoot, I seriously considered taking notes. It was obvious that before me stood a real, live, Super Mom. No joke.

Did I mention that the children were beautiful?

Give Us A Kiss – Our First Contest

We’re warming up for fall by throwing a little contest at you. It’s simple, really. To enter, all you have to do is send your friends our way to give us a kiss. Each time a pal of yours becomes a fan of ours on Facebook or follows us on Twitter, you get one chance to win. The more people you refer, the more chances you get. Easy peasy, right? You may be wondering how we will know whose friend is whose and that answer is a cinch, too.

They have to tell us.

Facebook example: Meredith Novario sent me to become a fan and give you a sloppy smooch.
Twitter example: @Mereditz sent me to give you a kiss. MWAH!

And so on and so forth.

Now, you’re dying to know: What will you win? The winner will receive a complimentary Joslyn Place Mini-shoot on Sunday, November 22nd, 2009. The winner must reside in either Prince William or Fauquier County, VA or be willing to travel to us on that day.

Kristine's Maternity Shoot

Last weekend, Meredith and I traveled to Prince William County to take backyard shots of a very pregnant friend of mine, Kristine. We weren’t all that sure what to expect nor were we super prepared mostly, I guess, because we were only taking pictures of one person. No kids. No huge family. No babies. No worries, right?

Well, as usual, we learned a few lessons on this shoot.

#1: Talk about the belly before the session. Do you want to show your belly? If so, what will you be wearing? Kristine was an awesome sport. She just pulled up her dress and wrapped her bottom half with a blanket. Neighbors, be damned!

#2 Bring a neutral colored blanket or even a sarong to the shoot. Hello, props? Editing the blue and white blanket out of our shots left us both cursing at our monitors.

Yesterday, Kristine was able to view her gallery online and here is what she had to say:

“I think those turned out great. All I have to say is that’s a lot of belly, at least to me it is. I’m comfortable with them all; I think my fave is the black and white with my belly exposed, which surprises me. I think you guys did a great job with the shoot – I just wish that I had been a little more prepared for you guys in terms of what I wanted and expected.”

Actually, we should have been the ones who were more prepared…but since this was not only her first maternity shoot but also her first baby, we’ll all just live and learn a little. Or a lot.
