A week before this beauty became an adult officially, Meredith and I had the pleasure of taking her picture. We used natural light and tried shooting at different angles to capture her personality. Julia was totally at ease with the camera and had no problem with all of the attention and fussing which is clear to see in the resulting images. We gave whole experience two thumbs up and look forward to seeing her name in lights one day soon.

Break a leg, Julia!

There’s that song about how three is a magic number. Now that Eli is four he’d like to know why three is the magic number and not four. What’s so special about three since four is older and thus obviously better than three? I tried to come up with a plausible answer. Something I spend most of my days doing. l told him that there are lots of threes in the world. The pigs. The bears. The blind mice. My answer was not satisfying but he did get distracted by learning the words to Three Blind Mice. Words that are far more disgusting than magical.

And then some of us go ahead and have three kiddos and it is magical. Not any more or less so than the other numbers but when the newest ones come along it is always pure magic.

In August, I met Krista at soccer camp. Our boys sweat it out while we sat in the shade. I sat with a 6 week old Josie and Krista sat with her 2 year old and a perfect third trimester belly. Now the baby is here and we got to photograph her family of three.

I can’t resist a baby with hair.

or kids who love the camera,

or parents who can make this kind of magic look effortless.
